The list of standards below are tried and tested. In our industry they are the international benchmarks for quality.
So we’ve made sure that the huge range of electrical cables and accessories we offer adheres to the relevant standards.
It’s the only way to ensure total confidence in every metre of cable we sell.
BASEC
The British Approvals Service for Cables (BASEC) is a recognised sign of assurance of independent cable testing and approval.
Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances
The Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances (RoHS) directive became effective from 1st July 2006. Cables compliant with RoHS can be identified on our web pages by Eland's RoHS symbol.

Cenelec
CENELEC, the European Committee for Electrotechnical Standardization, was created in 1973 as a result of the merger of two previous European organizations: CENELCOM and CENEL.
CSA International
CSA International test for compliance to national and international standards, and issue certification marks for qualified products.
Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System
The Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System (HS) of tariff nomenclature is an internationally standardized system of names and numbers for classifying traded products developed and maintained by the World Customs Organisation (WCO)
Underwriters Laboratories
Underwriters Laboratories® is an independent product safety certification organization that has been testing products and writing standards for safety for more than a century.
IP
Ingress protection is the degree of protection provided by the product enclosure. In many cases, the level of protection provided by the enclosure is marked on the product in the form of an "IP" code. For example, IP 55 would indicate a dust protected (first digit 5) piece of equipment which is protected against water jets (second digit 5).

NR
Network Rail Standards is the generic term given to the documents that specify the requirements to help secure the safe and efficient operation of the rail infrastructure.
TIA
The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) is a global trade association headquartered in the United States that represents about 600 telecommunications companies.
LPCB
The Loss Prevention Certification Board (LPCB) is a leading international certification body in the fields of security and fire protection.
RIA
The Railway Industry Association is the Trade Association for UK-based suppliers of equipment and services to the world-wide industry. It has around 140 member companies, active across the whole range of railway supply.
VDE
VDE, the Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies is one of the largest technical and scientific associations in Europe with more than 34 000 members
